Carol Michalski

Carol Elaine Michalski, 68, of Maumee, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving husband and daughter on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from complications of having diabetes for 52 years. Carol was born October 13, 1955, to John and Inez (Gray) Hyndman. She was a member of Northwood Church of God since childhood. She recently became involved with Maumee United Methodist Church in the past few years. Carol graduated from Waite High School in 1973. She married James Michalski on May 31, 1975, and they shared 48 years together.

Carol worked as a cashier at Kroger's and St. Luke’s in housekeeping. In 2002, Carol had a kidney transplant at MCO, and the kidney transplant lasted until 2023 when she started dialysis. She enjoyed taking vacations, especially to Florida, to visit her family. She loved shopping with her daughter and granddaughter and spending time with her dogs. Carol will be remembered for being a fighter, she has fought since the age of 16, when she was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

She is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Jaime (Brian) Winckowski; grandchildren, Alec Michalski and Laci Winckowski and granddogs, Trevor and Peanut. As well as sister in-laws and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Inez; brothers, Michael and David and her four dogs, Calhoun, Roxy, Nikita, Kayla and granddog, Pugzy.

Friends and family will be received Monday, November 6, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee (419-893-7686) where funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to The American Diabetes Association or The Toledo Humane Society.
