Carol J. Harrison, 87, died peacefully in her home on December 4, 2022. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 19, 1935 to Paul and Dorothy (Mobieus) Metzger, who preceded her in death.
Carol was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1953. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, she went to work as a teller for the former Toledo Trust Bank in West Toledo. She then moved out of the area and continued her banking career at various banks in Michigan and Indiana. In 1987 she moved to Rossford, Ohio, went to work for 5/3 Bank, where she retired in 2000. During this time, she also worked as a supervisor at K-Mart in Perrysburg, retiring in 2008.
Carol was a member of St. Rose Church in Perrysburg. She was active in their 55+ Senior Group, Altar Rosary Sodality, and volunteered in the office counting the weekly collections. She was also a member of CSI Senior Group, Young at Heart Senior Group at Zoar Lutheran, and volunteered at Perrysburg Christian United Food Bank.
Carol was an avid reader, enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and bus trips to the casinos. You could always find her at her grandchildren’s sporting events, dancing recitals, and horse shows. In 1988 she planned the first Girl’s Weekend with her four daughters that continued yearly and was a frequent winner at the monthly Texas Hold’em game with the family.
She is survived by her children; Stacie Sorg of Grand Rapids, MI, Michael Schumaker of Toledo, Susan (Jim) Jones of Perrysburg, Shelley DeStazio of Maumee, David (Kim) Schumaker of Bowling Green, Thomas (Jackie) Schumaker of Perrysburg, Shari Keyes of Holland and John (Janet) Schumaker of Maumee; grandchildren, Brian (Rachel), Brandon (Emese), Joe (Kassie), Kevin (Melissa), Brianna, Alisha (Tristan), Aliedre (Ty), Dakota, Leanna (Kyra), Josh (Tayler), Nick (Lisa) and Scott (Brooke);great-grandchildren, Leo, Evon, Gigi, Zoe, Hazel, Lincoln, Sophia, Joshua, Trent, Ava, Jaxon, Tori, Easton, Piper and Paisley; sister, Paula (Keith) Aldridge; brother, Denny (Jan) Metzger and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In following her wishes there will be no visitation. She will be cremated, with a Memorial Mass Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, Ohio. Inurnment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carol’s name to St. Rose Catholic Church.
