Carol Frances Guttenberger

Carol F. Guttenberger, age 57, passed away July 9, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Carol was born July 22, 1952 in Chicago, IL to Egon and Elaine Gerson. On June 30, 1973 she married the love of her life, Jeffrey Guttenberger, in Arlington Heights, IL. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Western Illinois University and her Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Toledo, where she was the founder and first president of the MBA Association and also was an adjunct professor. Carol worked for Owens-Corning in marketing before opening the Excellence Institute in 1992. She enjoyed operating her own business and helping others reach their business goals. Carol was a huge advocate of the performing arts at Sylvania Northview High School. She loved skiing, was an avid swimmer and was a member of the National Ski Patrol. Carol was also a member of the Toledo Area Human Resource Association, the MBA Alumni Group, and was an Honorary Member of the National Golden Key Honor Society. Carol is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; sons, Scott and Douglas Rachel Mikolajczyk; father, Egon Gerson; sisters, Nancy Ronto and Lizbeth David Bishoff; sister-in-law, Janice Carlstrand; nieces, Erin Carlstrand, Kirstin Pierce; and Tiffiny Stewart, Monika Wesorick; and nephews, Paul Ronto and Eric Bishoff. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00am-3:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where a celebration of Carols life will follow at 3:00pm.
