Carol A. Carstensen, 72, of Clay Center, Ohio, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Carol was the daughter of Harold and Alice (Miller) Wepler, born September 30, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio. Carol met Robert L. Carstensen and they were married on September 9, 1983 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Genoa.
Carol was a very active person who worked in the housekeeping department of the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston, Ohio for several years. She was a very giving person who took care of others before thinking of her own needs. She took great care of her husband and daughter, Catherine, until her death in 2021. Working outdoors in her gardens was a favorite pastime along with hosting her beloved grandchildren. In her younger years, she played softball and loved to dance.
Survivors include her husband Bob of over 38 years, sons, Vance B. (Dawn) Recker and Quinn A. (Cindy) Recker; grandchildren, Alex, Tim, Kassy, Robert and Corey; great-grandchildren, Amara, Giovanni, Bridgette, and one on the way; and siblings, Fred Wepler and Rob (Kathy) Wepler. Her parents and daughter, Catherine A. Carstensen, preceded her in death.
There are no services scheduled but those wishing to make a donation in her memory are asked to consider the Allen-Clay Joint Fires Dist., Station #35 (Clay Center) at 3155 N. Genoa-Clay Center Road, Genoa, Ohio 43430. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, is assisting the family with arrangements.
