Carol Ann Ardner, 80, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023. She completed her time on this Earth after struggling with cancer; she is now free from pain and fatigue. She was born on October 21, 1942, to George and Gladys Ardner in Toledo. In 1964 she graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in elementary education, beginning her lifelong mission to learn and teach. She spent several years in Long Beach, California, enjoying teaching in challenging situations and with challenging students. Returning to Toledo in 1979, she developed and coordinated a program to teach English to the Hmong. She participated in multiple volunteer activities, including over 30 years ushering at concerts in the Toledo Museum of Art, volunteering at the Manor House, and offering tours in downtown Toledo. Informally she collected reams of historical information, which were especially useful in her travels to the Caribbean, Europe, South America, and Mexico. She loved gardening and was proud of her flowers. Carol had a love/hate relationship with the many deer who visited her yard. She loved sewing, designing, and making many of her clothes over the years. She also made hats, mittens, scarves, etc. to sell at craft shows and give away to families at Christmas. She shared her love of classical music with her friends and even stimulated a love of classical music in young children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and younger sister, Georgia. Carol is survived by her loving sisters, Mary, and Pat; many cousins; and countless friends. The family offers a special thank you to all involved in her cancer journey and final days at the Hickman Center and Flower Hospital.
