It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Carmel Owen Barker II, 78 of Bradner, Ohio. He passed peacefully July 7, 2025 at 1:35 a.m. in Oregon, Ohio surrounded by family. He was born August 1, 1946 in Charleston, West Virgina and graduated from St. Albans High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. and was a retired electrician by trade for Local 8 IBEW.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Carmel had a special appreciation for the simple pleasures in life—he loved back rubs and foot rubs, and nothing brought him more joy than taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for rides on the tractor or playing cards with them. He took great pride in always beating everyone at Words with Friends, sharing jokes, and spending time on his favorite hobbies—photography and photo editing. He was also a big fan of classic western and war movies. Carmel had a deep love for music, especially Reba McEntire, Celine Dion, Elvis, and just about any country tune. He was known for saying, “I love both kinds of music—Country and Western.” Always stylish, Carmel could be found wearing a button-down shirt with a crisp white T-shirt underneath, dress shoes, and his signature slicked-back hair. We love you, Dad, Daddy, Drad, Daddio, Papa, and Grandpa.
