Carmack Hopson, Jr. was born in Toledo, Ohio to Carmack Hopson, Sr. and Bettie Lou Hopson on August 17, 1933. He died on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Advanced Specialty Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lavern Hopson Garcia. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Brunetta Moye Hopson, sister, Irene Hopson, sons, Carmack III (Stephanie), Perry, Dennis (special friend Lazonya Carnes), daughters, Yvonne, Elaine (Larry) Elmore, grandchildren, Erin Elmore, Tiffany Elmore Geraghty, Shane (Latrecia), Stacey, David and Mallory Hopson, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild,, along with nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Carmack graduated from Scott High School and was a letter carrier for the U.S Postal Service for 35 years. He continued to work part time up to four years ago after he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a hard working, kind, and humble person and one of Jehovah's Witnesses who believed in the Bible's promise that the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear His voice and come out (John 5:28, 29). He loved spending time with family and friends, either on home projects or cookouts and watching his youngest son coach college basketball. He taught his children by example but also admonished them with the scripture, "Do not owe anything to anyone except to love one another" (Romans 13:8). He lived to see all five of them imitate his work ethic and independent spirit. He knew they would look after their mom as he did. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, flowers and food. Special thanks to the staff at Promedica Hospital ICU and Advanced Specialty Hospital for their excellent care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to JW.org or Hospice of NW Ohio. Arrangements are being handled by Walker Funeral Home. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. on Zoom. Contact Walker Funeral Home for details.
