Carlotta D. Nemeth, 83, of Genoa, Ohio, died early Monday morning, January 18, 2010, in the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, Ohio. Carlotta was born in Martinsburg, WV, on April 16, 1926, to George and Dora Lee McKeever Hartshorn. She married Joseph A. Nemeth, Sr. in Ida, Michigan, on April 20, 1946, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1987. Carlotta was a registered nurse, graduating from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She went on to work at the Toledo Hospital, St. Charles Hospital and as a nursing supervisor at the Luther Home of Mercy. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio, where she was a member of the Rachel Circle. She worked as a staff nurse for the blood services department of the American Red Cross for 15 years until retiring April 1, 1987. Carlotta also volunteered for the W.S.O.S. program, the Luther Home of Mercy, St. Charles Hospital, and the American Red Cross. Survivors include her children, Penny E. William Steven, Judy A. David Waggoner, both of Genoa, son Joseph A. Nemeth, Jr., Longmont, CO, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Libby Mock of Toledo, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, George W. Hartshorn, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Sue Nemeth. Services for Carlotta will be private and burial will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family suggests that memorials in Carlottas name be made to the Genoa Care Center, 300 Cherry St. Genoa, OH 43430, or the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, is assisting the family with arrangements.
