Carl F. Taube

Carl Frederick Taube, 86, passed away January 24, 2010. Born to Henry and Ella Barnes Taube of Toledo, Ohio, on April 5, 1923, he was a1941 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. Farming was his passion and he raised soybeans, corn, wheat and tomatoes in the Port Clinton and Fremont areas. He was also employed at Erie Proving Grounds, Plymouth Dairy, delivering milk to a bomber plant during World War II, US Gypsum, and Standard Products. He retired from Standard Products in 1985. After retirement, he delivered meals through the WSOS program of Ottawa County. Carl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ila Mae Fondessy Taube. He is also survived by daughters, Diane Scott Witt, of New Albany, Ohio, and Kristie Kim Koenig of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Erin Steve Simons, Mik Lauren Koenig, Adrienne Tim Moreland, Elizabeth Justin Bates, Katelyn Seelig, and Emily Koenig; great grandchildren, Riley and Isabelle Simons, Cooper and Ryder Koenig, Trevor Moreland, and Avery Bates. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-sister, Donna Naugle. Carl was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor. Carl and Ila Mae traveled extensively in the United States, visiting 49 states, missing Alaska. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening, his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, and spending time with his family. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010, between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor; interment immediately following at Elliston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church at the above address.
