Carl graduated from Start High School in 1975 and attended the University of Toledo where he graduated with a Business degree. Lifetime friendships were formed during his college years and their bond still remains strong. After graduation, he began to work in Purchasing at Teledyne C.A.E. in Toledo, Ohio and in early 1986 transferred to their Gainesville, GA plant. In October 1986 he married Vicki Schwind. After several years in the Atlanta area, they relocated back to Toledo where Carl began his second career in the insurance industry, working for Knight Insurance Group for 36 years. In addition to work, Carl volunteered his time to local charities including the Downtown Kiwanis and 33 for Charity.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Vicki (Schwind) Richardson, son Michael (Sara Kirk) Richardson, daughter Kristen Richardson, grandsons Braydon and Luca (on the way), siblings Frank (Chris), Gary (Susan), father-in-law Glenn Schwind, sisters-in-law Joyce (Dave) Baranski, Janet (Danny) Sieminski, brother-in-law Garry (Malinda) Schwind, and many nieces and nephews.
As an avid sports fan, Carl cheered for the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Tigers. His love for the band Chicago grew over the years as he attended numerous Chicago concerts. He enjoyed annual golf trips and played in several golf leagues. Cheers to the countless laughs, stories, and 'final finals' he shared with friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Rose Schwind.
His family would like to thank all of his friends who offered their support during his illness and to the staffs of Hickman Cancer Center and the intensive care unit at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio.
