Carl E. Opelt, Jr.

March 6, 1941 — September 7, 2024

Carl E. Opelt, Jr., 83, a lifelong resident of Woodville, Ohio, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. He was born on the family farm in Woodville on March 6, 1941, to Carl E. and Gladys M. (Recker) Sr. He graduated from Woodville High School prior to studying math at Bowling Green State University.


Carl was a truck driver for many years and during that time he farmed and raised Black Angus cattle on his farm in Sandusky County. He enjoyed listening to country music and will be remembered for his long conversations with family and friends.


Carl is survived by his companion of 46 years, Katherine Garcia and his sister, Patricia Opelt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gladys and his brother, Lawrence Opelt.


Visitation for Carl will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Alan Brown of Solomon Lutheran Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Solomon Lutheran Church, 305 Main St., Woodville, Ohio 43469.
