Carl R. Mock, Jr.

Carl R. Mock, resident of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully at Hospice of NW Ohio on November 4, 2023.

He was born in Toledo on March 31, 1939, the son of Eleanor (Draheim) and Carl Mock, Sr. He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1957, and enlisted in the 112th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (to become the 180th Air National Guard) after graduation. Over 43 years of service, he advanced from aircraft radio repairman to electronics shop supervisor and, after several promotions, retired as Avionics Integrated Section Superintendent in 1994.

In 1964 he met and married Judith Hammonds, his wife of 59 years. They raced sail boats on Lake Erie as members of the Jolly Roger Sailing Club. With friends they cruised the Great Lakes, Virgin Islands, Greek Islands, and the Islands of Tahiti. They loved traveling across the U.S., visiting all 50 states, 6 Canadian provinces , 20 states in Mexico and parts of Western Europe.

After retirement, they built a home on an island in the Les Cheneaux Islands on Lake Huron, where they sailed and skied. Carl had several jobs in the U.P., including his own computer business. He also spent one summer as Harbor Master of Hessel Marina. He loved sports cars, owned several during his life, and was thrilled to drive on the Gratten Raceway in Michigan.

Carl is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Pamela (Matthew) Davis; son, Michael; sisters, Carolyn (Michael Sr.) Roetter and Judy Lento; several nieces and nephews as well as cousins in Germany.

Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Rd.) on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm.
