Carl Hepner

Carl E. Hepner, 72, of Fremont, OH passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, OH. He was born on January 11, 1952 in Toledo, OH to Harold and Mae (Smith) Hepner. Carl was member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where he served as janitor for 37 years, retiring in 2009. He liked to help out with the church trips and the youth group there as well. Carl loved gardening and was very good at it. He also enjoyed cooking, liked trains, and listening to music. He had an artistic side, and he collected cookie jars, and competed with his Aunt Nancy on collecting them.

Carl is survived by several cousins, including his caregiver, Tabitha Shilling. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister, Carol Hepner, aunts, Lois Nycum and Nancy Roach, and uncles, Leroy, Jack, Glenn, and Ward Smith.

Funeral services for Carl will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH. Burial will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Carl may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, OH.
