Carl F Haas, Jr

Carl F. Haas, Jr. was born on March 7, 1932 to Carl and Rose Haas. He attended and graduated from Woodward High School where he played football. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged. Carl married Judith Ann Snyder who preceded him in death on June 11, 2016. Carl’s career was as diverse as his personal interests. He began by delivering fuel oil, he drove truck for Redi-Mix, and he owned an excavating company. Carl also worked as an equipment salesman for Acme Equipment. He eventually owned Able Equipment Company along with three partners which was later sold to United Rentals. Carl and his son enjoyed racing unlimited light hydroplanes. He was a longtime member of the Bay View Yacht Club where he served as a Board Chairman for 10 years. He belonged to the American Legion Adams Township Post #553, Sylvania Moose, Toledo Firefighters Museum and the Toledo Elks. Carl was also a volunteer fireman for the Adams Township Fire Department. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; son, Greg; mother, Rose; father, Carl Sr.; step-mother, Lenore; and brothers, Bill and Ron. He is survived by his sons, Randy and Jeff Haas; sisters, Sue Willis, Janet Campbell, and Carlene Martin; sister-in-law, Sue Coleman; brother-in-law, Chuck (Carol) Shanteau as well as former daughter-in-law, Beth Haas. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 2-7:00 PM at Neville Funeral Home, Reynolds Corners Chapel, 5052 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH 43615 (419-535-0951) where funeral services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made in Carl’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
