Carey “Chett” Bryant, 60, of Marblehead, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 05, 2018, at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. He was born on September 22, 1957, in Hartsville, SC, to the late Ruby (Clanton) and LaVerne Bryant. He graduated from The Citadel, Charleston, SC in 1979 and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he later served as an instructor at The Basic School at Quantico, VA. On February 14, 1986, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, OH, he married Debra L. Fortman and she survives. Chett was currently working as Safety Manager at Fenner-Dunlop Co. in Port Clinton and Toledo. He enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes, collecting WWII memorabilia and studying WWII history, which he loved to talk about with anyone. His passion was vacationing several times a year in Myrtle Beach with family. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife: Debra L. Bryant; Sons: Paul J. “PJ” Bryant of Traverse City, MI, and Matthew C. Bryant of Murray, KY; Brother: Jeffrey (Carol) Bryant of Hartsville, SC and Uncle Roy McCall of Society Hill, SC, who helped raise him. Chett was preceded in death by his parents and aunt: Margaret McCall. Friends may call from 3-5pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH.
