C. Richard Griffith

C. Richard Griffith was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 11, 1932. As a young adult he attended Franklin Marshall College in Lancaster, PA with a B.S. degree. At the age of 80, Dick passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife, Patricia at their home in Holland, Ohio on February 21, 2013. Surviving are his daughter, Kelly Tim Griffith Shirer, and 3 grandsons, Chandler of Indianapolis, IN, Cameron and Conner of Elmore, OH. Richard was a man of all seasons, with broad interests that enriched his life in all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived a life of credibility, common sense, and positive communication. His sense of humor and laughter were contagious. His interests were family enrichment, community service and serving his church. Dicks hobbies were golfing, Ohio State games, painting, gardening, swimming, and baking Dicks famous loaf. Dick was proud to serve his country and received an honorable discharge from U.S. Army Finance Corps. He was a successful Labor Relations Representative for Owens-Illinois, Inc. with a strong background and experience in labor contract negotiations, grievance and arbitration proceedings. He served as a company spokesperson at nearly 150 labor contract negotiations, including 23 multiple contracts, covering up to 22 manufacturing facilities and 15, 000 employees over 20 years with only 6 work stoppages. Richard displayed a great ability to interact efficiently. After retirement from Owens-Illinois, Inc Toledo, OH Dick spent 5 years in the public sector as an Associate Director of Human Resources and a Grievance Hearing Officer at the Medical College of Ohio MCO, conducting over 300 hearings. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Christ Presbyterian Church in Toledo, OH. All who knew and loved Richard Dick are welcomed to celebrate his life with his family and friends. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are urged to consider the American Heart Association, Christ Presbyterian Church, and Corpus Christi University Parish. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the medical professionals and clergy who were responsible for Dicks wonderful care and spiritual guidance, Doctors, William Facey, Fadhil Hussein and Daniel Pipoley; clergy, Reverends, Tom Schwartz, James Bacik, Daniel Zak and Chris Matthews.
