Burt Edwards

Burt Edwards age 98 of Perrysburg, our beloved patriarch, father and grandfather passed away on Friday September 17, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg surrounded by his loving family. Burt was born in Whitehouse, OH to George and Flossie Gerber Edwards. He was employed at L.O.F. for many years until his retirement. Burt was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the chemical mortar 89th battalion. He attended many Army reunions across the country throughout the years. Burt traveled 48 states, except Hawaii and Alaska by, motor home. He traveled several times to Florida with his daughter Pat and his grandchildren. Burt enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking every Thanksgiving with his famous oyster dressing. He also enjoyed growing his favorite garden vegetables, kohlrabi and beef steak tomatoes; wild game hunting which led him to become an excellent wild game cook and working in his garage where he did mechanic work and tinkering. As a young man, he was employed as a mechanic for the former Loesch Motors in Maumee. Burt was a strong willed, resilient man that overcame many physical injuries in his lifetime. His family always told him he had 9 lives. Surviving is his daughter, Patricia Cassin; grandchildren, Rick Puse, Lynne Bryan Omey, Jennifer Brett Rothfuss, Dan Debra Edwards, Mike Annette Edwards, Cindy Baker and Tammy Straight. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Edwards, Helen Jim Phillips and Dorothy Tom Stock.. Burt was preceded in death by his son, Burton; granddaughter, Angela Pyn; great-grandson, P.J.; parents; brother, Charles Edwards and sisters, Velma Luebcke, Glennah Edwards and Lodema Edwards. Friends and family may visit the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Tuesday September 21, 2010 from 3-8 pm where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am.
