Burley N. Rev. Clay

January 28, 1922 — September 10, 2010

Thou wilt hold me by Thy right hand, Thou shall guide me with Thy council, and afterward receive me into glory. Rev. Burley Clay, of Toledo, age 88, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, September 10, 2010. Burley Clay was born to Robert Simeon and Margaret Mae Nielson Clay, January 28, 1922, in Wood County, Ohio. His parents, his brothers, Robert, and Richard Clay and a grandchild, Elizabeth Motter, have preceded him in death. While a teen Burley gave his life to the Lord, which set him on a path that would lead him into full-time Christian service as a pastor. In 1944 Burley married Alice T. Cone, in Phoenix, Arizona. Burley and Alice served in 6 churches in Arizona, California, Ohio, and Michigan spanning 58 years of their lives. He dedicated his life to the cause of Christ and the Lords call upon him. In addition to being a pastor, Burley worked as a brick mason, contributing his building skills to churches he served, several mission fields, and on many commercial buildings in the Toledo area. Burley took great delight in, and greatly loved his wife, Alice, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss his hugs, smiles, and laughter. As his children we are thankful for the great love he had for all of us, we were treasured by our Dad. Burley leaves his precious and beloved wife of 66 years, Alice Cone Clay, 6 children; Margaret James Motter; David Doris Clay; Rebecca Vernon Masters; Jonathan Anita Clay; Daniel Carolyn Clay; and Polly Darwin Dunten. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters Thelma Ruth Germain and Anna Mae Waidelich, along with numerous other relatives. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave, Toledo, Ohio on Monday September 13, 2- 4:00 PM and 6 - 8:00 PM. The service will be held at Redeemer Community Church 5321 Springdale Ave, Toledo, Ohio at 11:00 Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Rev. Darwin Dunten will officiate. Burial will take place at Raker Cemetery, Delta, Ohio. Please direct memorials to World Partners of the Missionary Church. Our Precious Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and G-G Pa has gone home and is now before the throne of His Lord, and we will miss him, but one glad day we will see him again, and in Glory worship our Lord and Savior together. We will remember his great love and his many prayers for us. He will live on in our memories and hearts. Jesus doeth all things well, and that is our comfort, our joy, and our Blessed Hope.
