Bruce Lowell Pugsley - known to those closest to him as "Pete," a name his father claimed from the start - passed away recently, leaving behind a life lived with curiosity, craftsmanship, and deep devotion to family.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Bruce served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, during which he and his wife Donna were stationed in Spain and traveled throughout Europe. He and Donna married on June 25, 1966, and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this coming June.
A lifelong learner, Bruce earned a degree in education from the University of Toledo, taught middle school science at Bedford, and later built a long career as an investigator at State Farm before retiring in 2006. In retirement, he volunteered faithfully at the Toledo Firefighters Museum, spent summers fishing at Manapogo Park, and found joy in golfing, boating, and hunting trips with friends.
At home, Bruce was most at peace in his woodshop, building furniture and shelves - or watching YouTube videos about woodworking, which he counted as close enough. He loved old car shows, Jeopardy! (and knew more answers than he let on), riding his lawnmower, and a McDonald's caramel macchiato.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Donna Pugsley; his sister, Suzette; and his granddaughter, Rebeccah. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his sister, Sandy; his children, Wendy (Richard) and Ross (Ida); and his grandchildren.
He is always loved and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends may visit Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 1-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Funeral Service for Bruce will be Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11 am in the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be given to the Toledo Firefighters Museum.
