Brian M. Scott

Brian Michael Scott was granted his angel wings on April 2nd, 2016 just one day after his 20th birthday, following a life-long illness with Mitochondrial Disease. His final days were spent surrounded by family and those whom he loved. Brian’s life would seem too short to many, but those who knew him and were touched by his gentle soul, understood that quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile would melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his thoughts could always be heard. Brian led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories with those we love. Although his illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. He would spend hours cuddling close to those he loved so much. He loved music, especially when his sister, Kristen, would sing to him. He loved the sounds of laughter and would smile instantly with the familiar voices of his family. Although we will miss him every day, we will forever hold in our hearts the memory of our beautiful child, a gift from God who touched the lives of all who knew and loved him. He made us all see life in a way that only few are blessed to know and understand. We are so thankful that Brian’s sister, Kristen, had the opportunity to share in the life of this amazing soul, so she can hold dear the memories of his gentle spirit and the teaching of life he gave to us all. The bond these two share is the most beautiful memory we will forever hold in our hearts. He will be dearly missed by many who helped care for him. All these people, too numerous to mention, provided Brian with care, love and dignity in his life. We will always be thankful to all who helped during this journey. All of you will hold a special place in our hearts. Brian is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Valerie Scott of Holland, OH; his sister, Kristen Scott; Opa, Alfred Mundt of Maumee, OH; grandmother, Loretta Scott of Delta, OH; aunts Karin (Jeff) Pigott of Wyandotte, MI; Jennifer (Ed) Linne of Ypsilanti, MI; Barb (Bill) Vargo of GA and uncles, Fred (Kristie) Mundt of Toledo; Bill (Tina) Scott of GA along with many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, LeeAnn Mundt and grandfather, David Scott; and Oma, Adela Mundt. Calling hours are to be held Friday, April 8, 2016 from 2 pm to 8 pm at Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879). There will be a funeral service at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at New Hope Christian church located at 2457 Holloway Rd. in Holland followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon to be announced at the service.
