Brenda Johanna Fisher

April 11, 1958 — March 9, 2026

Brenda Fisher passed away suddenly but peacefully on March 9. Born to David and Joyce Moore in Hudson, MI, Brenda and her siblings, Brent, Bradene and Brenee lived a humble life on the family farm. It was there that she began her lifelong love of books and her fascination with the natural world. In high school, she was active with the school band, drama productions, and high school basketball. Upon graduation, she attended Michigan State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in education, specializing in English-Language Arts with a math education minor.

Brenda began her teaching experience at Evergreen High in 1980, and soon moved on to Cardinal Stritch High School in Oregon, OH for many years. There she taught English, math, conducted a reading lab and, was for a time, Dean of Students. As if her schedule wasn't busy enough, Brenda directed numerous school drama and musical productions. While at Stritch, she continued her higher level education by attending Siena Heights College in Adrian, MI where she earned her Master's Degree. It was at Cardinal Stritch, she met her future husband Keith.

Brenda and Keith were married in Port Clinton at Trinity United Methodist Church in July 1987. As newlyweds, they lived in Oak Harbor, OH before moving to Port Clinton where they have been ever since. She was fortunate enough to have two daughters, Kelsey and Sara. Brenda was very active with church activities at Trinity including singing in the choir, teaching Sunday and vacation bible school, serving community Thanksgiving dinners, and decorating the church for Christmas festivities. She later became choir director for many years along with serving as education director.

Once Brenda's girls were of school age, she went back to work as a substitute teacher at Port Clinton City Schools at both the middle and high schools. While at the middle school, Brenda's diligence was able to improve student proficiency scores in both English and math. Beyond the school day, she again assisted with many student drama productions alongside her husband Keith, with their two girls in tow. Her talents were extraordinary with the creation of handmade costumes, sometimes producing one costume per day, and painting some of the scenic backgrounds.

Eventually, Brenda's teaching adventure took her to Fremont City Schools from 2000-2024 at first the middle then to the high school. At the high school, she concentrated on teaching all levels of English and AP Courses, serving as the English Department Chair for a time. Her reputation had a lasting impact as evidenced by graduates returning to express their appreciation. Brenda helped develop a TV production class and for many years coached the speech and debate team. It wasn't always students she educated. Sometimes her peers appreciated her guidance and writing expertise as Brenda became a professional mentor.

After close to 40 years in education, not counting her teen years teaching Sunday school at her local church, Brenda retired from Fremont City Schools and found more time to reconnect with many interests of her youth. With Brenda's talents of sewing, she began quilting and creating fabric home décor. She worked side by side with her husband Keith with his many craft products and shows. She was a voracious reader, and novels were always a part of her joy. Brenda enjoyed nature and loved seeing the various birds that would fly into the yard. She always had a love of plants and made sure they were in her view whether in the house or in her classrooms.

Brenda will be sorely missed and is survived by her husband Keith, daughters Kelsey and Sara, brother Brent (Cathy) Moore, sisters Bradene (Pat) Moore-Howard and Brenee Moore, nephews Josh and Jake Moore, and Will (Smitha) Howard, and niece Mora (Mike) Rutledge.
