Bradley Kevin Mettert, 61, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully January 2, 2022 at Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He had Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome brought on by Covid. Bradley was born September 11, 1960 in Hicksville, Ohio to Dennis and Beverly (Ballard) Mettert. In 1983 while earning his Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Northwest (Technical) State College, the Dean of Engineering, Ernie Weaver from the University of Toledo paid the students a visit. He encouraged everyone to further their education and receive their bachelor's degree. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in March 1993. Bradley married his sweetie Jennifer Diane Hodges on August 6, 1988 and they shared 33 years together. Bradley worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 37 years at Toledo Transducers. His intellect was on a genius level because he could see a plan beginning to end and follow it through. He had competent knowledge and skills, he taught people with a purpose and it set his company up for success. As a role model and mentor, he encouraged and challenged others in a positive, inspiring, problem solving way. He showed wisdom, compassion, and perseverance. Bradley was a fully devoted Christian and a member of Grace Methodist Church in Perrysburg. Through his prayerful strong relationship with the Lord, he was a faithful servant, committed to following God’s will for his life and the greater plan. He was not afraid to be a missionary, to spread the word of God. Brad shared with others the many ways God had manifested himself in answered prayers, specifically the miraculous recovery of his eldest child, from a horrific accident. He prioritized and invested into his family. Active in his children's lives with school projects, and designing and creating halloween costumes. Mechanically inclined, he once tore out and replaced an entire car transmission. He used his talents to glorify God and passed along many of his great skills to his beloved children and friends. He could sing and sew and was the best family chef and baker. He enjoyed family cookouts and getting all together. He gave the best warm, cozy-bear hugs ever, in his embrace you’d feel his loving kind heart. Humorous with a hearty laugh that filled any space, and always had a dad joke up his sleeve. His Donald Duck impersonation was spot on. Through his loyalty, trustworthiness, and down-to-earth straight forward compassionate self, you'd be blessed to be his friend. He was secure in his masculinity and did not fear sharing a heart-to-heart, for the meaning and outcome in doing so was powerful. Brad had an excellent greenthumb. He admired vibrant roses and the Bird of Paradise. Having many other skills and talents included being a resourceful and an ingenious craftsman, creating several furniture and hobby pieces, such as a hand crafted wooden canoe, sofa table, coffee table, and functional toy models. In his more youthful years he rode his own motorcycle and built a go-cart by hand. He approached life through design. Bradley was a man of strength, endurance and integrity. Constructive, through his creative inventive nature he was open minded to new innovations. Bradley was quite adventuresome in nature. During his younger years, he enjoyed camping with his family in Key West Florida. He could do slalom and barefoot water skiing! He once swam with sharks and loved to scuba dive. He traveled to all 50 states, treasured anniversaries, and date nights to the Farmers Market every Thursday with his wife. An adorable memory he shared with her during their honeymoon to Florida and the Bahamas was that she pointed to a lumpy group of animals and questioned, “what are these!?” He replied lovingly, “Manatees” and they forever became his wife's favorite animal. He hit the bullseye when it came to archery, shooting and skeet. As a mighty fisherman, he took numerous fishing trips with friends and family. He enjoyed snow skiing, horseback riding, roller skating and bike rides with his blue Schwinn. He loved bowling and roller coasters and lovingly protected his daughter, as she was his “bitty-bit”. The classic family man photographer and videographer capturing the many precious moments. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; children, David (Ashley) Mettert, Daniel and Emily Mettert; mother-in-law, Patricia Hodges; brother and sister-in-law Tim (Julie) Seeley; his parents, Dennis (Beverly) Mettert; his sister, Natalie (Shayne) Rayle; sweet cats, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, David Hodges, and grandparents. Friends and family will be received Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 9-11 a.m. at Grace Methodist Church, 601 E. Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery, afterwards all are invited to return to Grace church for a luncheon.
