Bonnie J. Wagner

February 19, 1930 — February 4, 2023

Bonnie Jeanette Wagner passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on February 4, 2023 just shy of her 93rd birthday. Bonnie was born on February 19th, 1930 to the late Carmen & John Schassberger. She married her husband Bill, who she had known since grade school, on October 2, 1954. Together they raised their three children Becky, Bill (Duke), and Jeff in Toledo Ohio. They celebrated 66 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in November of 2020.

Bonnie had various jobs such as working at Tillotson before making a career at Toledo Hospital where she worked for 21 years before retiring in 1993. She was a member of the prayer shawl ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and volunteered at St. Anne’s Hospital. She along with 11 friends made up the “Buzzin’ Dozen” who met monthly to play cards for over 60 years. In 1998, Bonnie & Bill spent five years in Midland, Michigan to help care for grandkids. She volunteered at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland’s Gift Shop during that time. She loved golf, travel, and spending time with friends and family. The grandkids looked forward to what they’d find in the white ceramic candy dish at Grandma & Grandpa’s. She had many hobbies including cross stitch, crochet, knitting, puzzles, games, cards, reading, and baking cookies for the kids. Bonnie appreciated a good show on TV complimented with a light beer in a wine glass.

Bonnie loved her family and never hesitated to “show them off” to anyone willing to look at pictures and or hear a story. She will be missed by her daughter Becky Irvine, son Jeffrey (Kay) Wagner, and daughter-in-law Susan Wagner. Her grandchildren Ben (Alyssa Ritchey) Irvine, Chris (Courtney) Irvine, Kara (Brian) Stark, Lauren (Kai Moreb) Wagner, Brooke (David Walbolt) Wagner, Jack (Cait) Wagner, Heather (Wayne) Wedderman, and her great-grandchildren Graham, Madison, Parker, Iver, Summer, Jaycee, and Mathew, and great-great grandchildren Jade and Jianna.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sisters June Mohrbach, Linda (Jim) Fulton, Kathy Schassberger, sister-in-law Loretta Wagner, and many nieces, nephews, and friends - far too many to be named individually. Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Bill (Duke), her parents Carmen & John; her brother John (Jack); and her sisters Pat, Carol, Rita, and Betty.

Bonnie took her last breath on this earth at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and our family will be forever grateful for the loving care they provided to our mother/grandmother/granny in her final days. The family would also like to thank the staff of Oakleaf Village of Sylvania, Ohio where she lived for the past 5 years.

A private burial service took place on February 10th. A memorial mass will be held on April 22, 2023 at Little Flower Parish of Toledo Ohio at 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life. Those wishing to make a donation in honor of Bonnie, please consider St. Judes Children’s Hospital, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or the charity of your choice.

2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith.

Thanks for the memories, may you Rest In Peace. We Love You!
