Bonnie June Thrailkill

Mrs. Bonnie June Thrailkill of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 25, 2026.

Born on June 13, 1929, she was adopted as a newborn by the late Sena and Cornelius Doornbos and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surrounded by a large and loving extended family.

Bonnie graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids in 1947 and worked for several years after graduation.

Bonnie met the love of her life, George "Bim" Thrailkill on a blind date. They were married on August 24, 1956, thereafter residing in the Columbus area while Bim completed medical school at Ohio State University. They subsequently moved to Toledo, where Bonnie lived the rest of her life. Bonnie and Bim welcomed two daughters, Kathy and Ruth Ann, and a son, Chris. Bonnie devoted herself to being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom during their childhood years.

Bonnie was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and she was involved in many church functions over the years. She was also an avid golfer, tennis player, and bridge player, and was proficient in needle work and other crafts. In her later years she and Bim enjoyed winter months in Islamorada, Florida, establishing a second circle of friendship with fellow "snow birds" in the Florida Keys. In summer months they resided on their boat in Port Clinton, Ohio, where many lifelong friendships were also established.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, Kathryn Mary Thrailkill, Ruth Ann Thrailkill McManus (Brian), and Christopher Neil Thrailkill (Michelle); and grandchildren, Montana Zaborowski (Richard), Christopher Thrailkill Jr, and Megan McManus.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo. Interment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.
