Bonnie Rose English

January 19, 1933 — October 14, 2021

Bonnie Rose English, 88, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 19, 1933 in Ashley, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Evelyn (Rosecrans) Bartlett. She married Dennis Dean English on December 30, 1954 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2003. She graduated from Findlay Public Schools in 1950 and attended Miami University. She then went to work at City Loan in Findlay for a year, followed by her work as a receptionist for Dr. Galbreath in Findlay from 1953-1954. During this time, she met and fell in love with Dean and they were married. Bonnie and Dean lived in Findlay, Merced (CA) and then settled into Port Clinton in order to raise their family. While raising their four children, Bonnie also worked at the Little General Store in Port Clinton and Cindy’s Dress Shop. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Clinton where she taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the Women’s Circle. She was also a member of CCL and a Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered her time by delivering Mobile Meals to the homebound for many years. Her three favorite hobbies were walking, reading and playing volleyball, the latter of which she played until she was 75! Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved visiting Lakeside, Ohio. Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Mike) Ihnat, Waterville, Ohio, Amy (Joseph) Mahler, Hamburg, New York, and Libby (John) Belden, Roswell, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Connie English, Tiffin, Ohio; grandchildren, Stephen (Abbey) Mahler, Adam Janes, Abigail English, Benjamin (Andrea) Ihnat, Ashley (James) Daugherty, Bobby (Katie) English, Alexander (Courtney) Belden, Allison (Jessica) Mandula, Drew (Tessa) Mahler, Alyssa (Austin) Wessel, and Jacob English; grandson-in-law, Jonathan Boleratz; step-grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Ihnat and Dustin (Michelle) Ihnat; 14 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); sister, Judy Cryer; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Christopher D. English; her granddaughter, Sarah Mahler Boleratz; and her brothers, Richard and Robert Bartlett. Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM until a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Warren Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the church or to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., 2121 K Street NW, Suite 200, Washington DC 20037. Online condolences may be expressed at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com. The Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Clinton, assisted the family with arrangements.
