Bonnie K. (Nee, Norman) O'Donnell

June 21, 1949 — April 4, 2024

Bonnie Norman O’Donnell (Bonster) passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at UH Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her entire family on the afternoon of her passing, letting them know how proud she was of all of them and how much she loved them.

Bonnie came into this world on the first day of summer, June 21, 1949, to parents Jack and Cathy Norman in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Twenty years into the future, June 21, 1969, would be her wedding day to the love of her life, Mark O'Donnell. They were to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary this June. She was a 1967 graduate of Elyria High School, completing the business curriculum. Her first job as a co-op student was with Airborne Manufacturing, the forerunner of Parker Hannifin in Elyria. She spent most of her life raising her children. After her kids were grown, she worked at the family business until deciding it was time to retire.

In Bonnie's personal life, she was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first. She had a love for animals, particularly dogs, and currently had a rescued chocolate lab named Coco, whom she adored. Bonnie also loved to cook and entertain, especially for her family. Many Sundays were spent in a custom-built dining room that she had designed to accommodate the entire family and even planned for future expansion to accommodate grandchildren and eventually their spouses and great-grandchildren. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and she delighted in bringing the family together, setting a table that would rival any dinner hosted by the Queen of England.

Summers were spent in Marblehead, Ohio, boating with the family on Lake Erie. She was a supportive first mate on antique Lyman boats. She spent the last 45 years in the family home in Elyria until she and Mark moved to Catawba Island, Ohio this year. Bonnie was the first lady of Huron Yacht Club and the Lyman Boat Owner's Association.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Mark O’Donnell; daughter Kimberley (Steve) Millar of Elyria; son Matthew (Jennifer) O'Donnell of Catawba Island; grandchildren Taylor (McKenzie) Millar, Emily (Ryan) Medves, Michaela O'Donnell, Brendan O'Donnell; and her first great-grandchild, Crew Millar. She is also survived by her sister, Connie Lorello, and Hugh Stacey, her mother's second husband known to all as Papa Huey of Avon, Ohio. Additionally, she was expecting two more great-grandchildren, one in July and one in October. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Norman and Cathy Stacey, and her brother, Tommy Norman.

Visitation for Bonnie will be held from 1:00 Pm-4:00 PM on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St. Port Clinton, Ohio. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation, beginning at 4:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at Catawba Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, Ohio 44035, in Bonnie O'Donnell's name.
