Bonnie Gillespie

Bonnie Jean Gillespie, 87, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at home. She was born on March 12, 1936 in Oregon, OH to Henry and Helen (Meyer) McIntire. Bonnie graduated from Clay High School in 1954. On October 4, 1954 she married Marvin Gillespie, Jr. and he survives. Bonnie was a loving wife to Marvin for 69 years, loving mother of 3, grandmother of 7, and great grandmother of 9. She loved cooking and was a wonderful baker of pies. Bonnie was also a talented painter, loved to knit, an excellent seamstress, made many Halloween costumes for grandkids, and kept a tidy home.


Bonnie belonged to a Pinochle club with her girlfriends for many years. She enjoyed spending time with grandkids, teaching them how to bake pies and knit. Bonnie was a longtime member of the Long Beach Community, longtime member Christian Women’s Club, and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. She loved reading her Bible every morning. She was on her fourth time completing reading through the Bible. Bonnie loved her faith and lived it too. She set a great example for her whole family.


In addition to her loving husband, Marvin of 69 years, she is survived by her children, Mark (Peggy) Gillespie, Audra (Tom) Headley, and Elizabeth (Bryan) Pollauf, grandchildren, Laura (John) Hickman, Mark (Jacqulin) Gillespie, Michael (Nancy) Gillespie, Alyssa Headley, Josh Headley, Abigail Pollauf, and Elaina Pollauf, 9 great grandchildren, sister, Barbara Yant, and her beloved dog, Molley. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Richard and Donald McIntire.


Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2-6 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, with prayer services offered at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Bonnie on Monday, December 18, 2023 by Father Joe Steinbauer at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 N. Church St., Oak Harbor. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery, Catawba Island Township. The family would like to invite their guests to a luncheon, for which the final details will be announced, after the burial committal services. Memorial contributions in memory of Bonnie may be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church or Samaritan’s Purse. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
