Bonita Rae Slater, 63, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Port Clinton passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 03, 2011 at H. B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. She was born on December 30, 1947 in Portsmouth, OH, the daughter of Dale and Myrtle Hicks Meacham. For the past 15 years Bonnie had worked as a Recruiter. She had a passion for offering guidance, encouragement and support for those wanting to make a career change and improve their lives. Bonnie helped many people discover their potential and will be greatly missed by all who knew her kind spirit. She enjoyed music and spending time with friends, especially her granddaughter, Stevie Rae. Bonita was a sweet, kind person with a very big heart. Once you became her friend you were a friend for life. Survivors include: Daughters: Tara Overholser and Miriam Mathias; Granddaughter: Stevie Rae Overholser; Grandsons: Mason & Maxwell Mathias; cousins and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial service will be at 12:00PM, Friday, September 16, 2011 in the Gypsum Community Church with visitation from 11:00AM until time of services. Memorial contributions in memory of Bonita may be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society or to the Friends of Port Clinton Cemeteries.
