Blanche V. Cashen Schimming, 102, of Genoa, passed away early morning, Friday, February 19, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Blanche was born January 15, 1914, in Curtice, Ohio, to Orma and Lena (Cutcher) Helterbrake. She and her first husband, Donald N. Cashen, were the co-owners of the former Cashens Market in Genoa, retiring in 1974. She and Donald were married June 22, 1933, and he preceded her in death January 13, 1978. On October 8, 1981, Blanche married Lester Schimming, who preceded her in death November 2, 1990. Blanche was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa and a charter member of the Coterie Club of Genoa and the Genoa Firettes. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading and playing Bridge. Surviving Blanche are her son, Ron (Liz) Cashen of Genoa, daughter-in-law, Marilyn Cashen of Oregon; grandchildren, Jan (Dave) Garber and Rob (Beth) Cashen both of Genoa, Kevin (Julie) Cashen, of Norwalk, Kay (Bill) Hungate of Greenville, IN, and Kendra Kec of Whitehouse; great grandchildren, Allyson (Mick) Schnabel, Katilyn (Justin) Kruse, Derek (Jessica) Cashen, Dustin and Breanna Cashen, Jessica (Ryan) Howe, Jared, Jacob and Caleb Cashen, Abbey and Nicholas Stewart, Sarah and Tom Kec, Karly and Austin Traver, James Remine and Dylan Cashen; and great-great grandchildren, Bryce and Easton Schnabel. She was preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands, son, Donald G. Cashen, sisters, Marcella Hille and Opal Hubble, brothers Jim and Jack Helterbrake, step brother, Harvey Cedoz, and granddaughter, Kimberly Cashen. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Genoa, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
