Bill D. Conners, 92, of Oak Harbor, died early Thursday morning, February 26, 2015, at Arbors at Clyde. Bill was born May 16, 1922, in Lima, Ohio, to Earl and Marie (Klinger) Conners. He retired from Chesapeake Ohio Railroad working as a switchman for 30 years. Bill served in the Army during WWII with Company C 9th Armored Infantry Battalion and was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He has a stone in the Veterans Circle at Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Bill was a life member of the V.F.W. in Port Clinton and had been a former member of the Moose Lodge in Port Clinton. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Fremont. Some of Bills hobbies were boating, fishing and hunting, but especially enjoyed fixing things in his tool shed. Bill is survived by his family: wife, Betty Jean, daughter, Pamala Kay Conners of Pinellas Park, FL, and son, Mitchell Conners of Oak Harbor, daughter-in-law, Linda Conners of Merritt Island, FL; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his step children: Christopher (Tami) Thompson of Billingham, WA, Michael (Susan) Thompson also of Billingham, Dennis Thompson of Chillicothe, OH, Tim (Mikki) Thompson of Fredericktown, OH, Kim Kay of Louisa, KY, Wendy (David) Chester of Howard, OH, and Stephen (Dawn) Clark of Whitehall, OH; 15 step grandchildren, and 36 step-great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Betty Ann, son, Terry, daughter-in-law, Denise, brother, Ronald Conner, and sister, Eleanor Jenkins. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Grace Community Church in Fremont. The luncheon will immediately follow the service. Military graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials for Bill to Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH 43420; Stein Hospice, 1200 N. Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870; or the donors choice.
