Bill Chapman

March 23, 1952 — April 17, 2009

Chapman William A. William A. Chapman, 57, lost his courageous battle with cancer on April 17, 2009. Bill, who was affectionately known by his friends as The Mayor of Trilby, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bill graduated from St. Johns Jesuit High School in 1970. He was a realtor, mortgage broker, and tax consultant. Bill was always one to help his friends and was often the first one called for action. If The Mayor didnt know how to do it, he knew someone who did! He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the NY Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and our own Toledo Hockey teams. Nothing made him happier than spending time grilling on his deck and swimming in his pool with friends and family. He also enjoyed his yearly golf trips with his buddies to Mesquite. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Sue; loving mother, Grace; sister, Diana Bob Gabel; nieces, Kristin JP Little, Alyson Joe Schlageter; nephews, Ryan Gabel, Brandon Sarah Gabel; mother-in-law, Ruth Wielinski; sister-in-law, Mary Keith Shrader; brother-in-law, Mark Joyce Wielinski; nephews, Jason Alicia and Brett Wielinski; Brian April Shrader; nieces, Tina Zajac, Kelly Kozak, and Kim Shrader; 11 great-nieces and nephews; former step-children, Wendy Stanley and Chris Wheeler; granddaughter, Kylee; and pets Lola and Baxter. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William W. Chapman; father-in-law, Charles J. Wielinski; and grandparents, Nick and Mary Duganiero, and Jesse and Eva Chapman. The family will receive friends at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Monday, April 20, 2009 from 3-8:00pm with a sharing of memories at 6:30pm. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at Christ the King, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623 at 11:00am. The family wishes to thank Hospice of NW Ohio for their loving care during this difficult time with a special thanks to Angel Salazar for her care and compassion. Those wishing to make donations are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Toledo Humane Society, or Christ the King Catholic Church.
