Her younger son, Alex Szilak, lives in Toledo with his wife, Alaina Hagigat. Beverlys youngest daughter, Deborah Richmond, lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband Jay Richmond. Their children are Kate and Lucy Richmond and Rory McGuigan. Kate Richmond lives in Indianapolis and Lucy Richmond lives in Bloomington, Indiana. Rory McGuigan lives in Westville, Indiana with his wife Kelly Tomlinson. Beverly is also survived by two stepchildren, Jan and Jim Harrison, and their respective families. Beverly was of French-Canadian, German and Irish descent and lived in Point Place early in her life. After her father died, her mother and the children moved to Toledo, where she attended and graduated from Scott High School and Toledo Business School. Her father, Rollin Shanteau, was a WWI veteran, and her brothers were veterans of WWII. Beverly loved to tell stories about her family and often told colorful tales about life in Toledo during the 1930s and 1940s. Beverly married Bud Thornton Bowman 1924-1981 in 1954, and they moved to Perrysburg, Ohio, in 1960. She worked as the office manager, for many years, at Rimer Precision Castings Company in Waterville, Ohio. She retired at age 62 from Pugh Heating and Cooling in Toledo. Beverly was proud of her career life and gave her children a strong work ethic. About four years after Bud died, she married an old friend, Clay Homer Harrison. They shared some very happy years, travelling and playing cards with friends and family until Clays death in 1995. Beverly was a fun-loving woman who carried her family through some difficult years, often by sheer stubbornness. She adopted various friends of her children when needed and hosted many parties under the carport for her children and their friends during their teen years. She loved nature and animals and passed that love of wild things on to her children. She loved camping and swimming and often took her family to state parks and beaches. She also loved music and dancing, and sang with a blues band in her late teens. In her later years, she read voraciously. She loved to dance, and jitterbugged with her son as recently as last year at her grandsons wedding. Beverly was a character. She was, at heart, a free spirit. She was a spiritual woman, but not always religious. She had struggles in her life, and she proudly survived them. They broke the mold when she was made as the saying goes, and she will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the staff at the Manor and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their kindness and their care in her last days. A memorial service for Beverlyann will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, Ohio. Online condolences may be shared at walkerfuneralhomes.com
