Beverly C Schwartz

November 7, 1930 — June 8, 2018

Beverly Carolyn Schwartz was born on November 7, 1930 in St. Johnsbury Vermont, the youngest of five children. Bev grew up in Vermont and Maine and graduated from high school in Mechanics Falls, Maine in 1949. She had hoped to attend college and had dreams of becoming a pilot in her younger years. After working at various jobs, she moved to Tiffin, Ohio in 1953 where most of her family had relocated for post-war jobs. She worked as a telephone operator at Ohio Bell in 1954. That same year, she met her future husband Maurice Schwartz and they were married on September 25, 1955. Their only child, Russell, was born in August of 1956. Bev and Morrie also lived in Fremont, Perrysburg & Waterville, Ohio. When Morrie retired in 1982, he and Bev spent much of their retirement ballroom dancing in clubs from Toledo to Deshler, Ohio. The couple was also active in service organizations such as the VFW and the Ex-POWs. Her husband Morrie died in 1997, and Bev continued to live in Waterville until a month before her death from a sudden illness. Bev spent her final days in Indianapolis where son Russ and daughter-in-law Ruth could care for her, and they were beside her when she died peacefully in her sleep on June 8, 2018. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Peter H. Hall and Clara S. (Guyette) Hutchins; siblings Lloyd P. Hall, Hazen L. Hall, Russell D. Hall, Velma S. May, and Melvin E. Hutchins. She is survived by her son Russell M. (Ruth) Schwartz of Carmel, Indiana; grandchildren Holly Bolt of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nathan Bolt of Atlanta, Georgia; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her 15 year companion and dancing partner Robert Stone of Waterville, Ohio. Visitation will be at 1 PM on Saturday, June 16 followed by a memorial service at 2 PM at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens in Waterville. Online condolences may be given at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com. The family respectfully requests that any memorial gifts be made to Bev’s favorite charity – The Nature Conservancy – or to the United Liberia Inland Church Associates and Friends, P.O. Box 1182, Carmel, IN 46082.
