Beverly J. Goldstein, 80, of Oak Harbor, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at her residence. She was born on December 19, 1929 in Toledo to John M. and Ovivian L. Bordeaux Miles. On May 29, 1948 in Oak Harbor she married James W. Goldstein, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1986. Beverly had owned and operated several local businesses over the years in Oak Harbor, The Oak Harbor Dry Cleaners, Band Box Cleaners, and the Oak Harbor Hotel. She was a long time active member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, where she served as president of the United Methodist Women, and was a member of the Disciples Class and a 50 year member of the choir. Beverly also served on the Oak Harbor Village Council, and was elected for her 3rd term this past November. She belonged, for over 50 years, to the Epsilon ETA Chapter of Sigma Alpha in Oak Harbor and was active in the Oak Harbor Senior Center. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing bridge. Beverly is survived by her loving family, children: James R. Pauline Goldstein, Jill E. Philip L. VanBuren Hickey, Joan E. Tom Dean, and Jerry A. Beckie Goldstein all of Oak Harbor, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and brother: Jack Fern Miles of Sun Lakes, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: June Fabian and Betty Miles, son-in-law: James Hickey, and granddaughters: Megan Goldstein, Arica Goldstein, Arian Goldstein, Faith Goldstein, and Hope Goldstein. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, 360 E. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, Oak Harbor Senior Center, or Heartland Hospice.
