Beverly Ann Dowling, 85, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, Toledo, OH. She was born on April 12, 1939 in Sandusky, OH to Allen L. and Kathryn (Jeremy) Goodman. Beverly graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1958 and she enjoyed celebrating with her classmates at last year’s 65 year reunion. She worked as a switchboard operator for most of her career in the service industries, including medical, hotels, and restaurants. Many of those years she worked at Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, OH. On October 15, 2000 in Sandusky, OH she married Thomas R. Dowling, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2018. Beverly had moved to Florida when Tom retired and they spent 12 years there and made a lot of friends in their retirement community. After Tom’s passing in 2018, Beverly moved back to Oak Harbor, OH. She was a devout Christian with strong faith, attending church while in Florida and she joined LaPointe United Methodist Church in Port Clinton when she returned to Ohio.
Beverly and Tom were previously members of the Eagles, V.F.W., and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and playing cards. Beverly played in a ladies Pinochle Club for 40 years and most recently she also enjoyed playing cards with her mates at Covenant Harbor in Oak Harbor where she lived. Beverly had a real sweet tooth and enjoyed chocolate, especially cupcakes, cake, and candy bars. She had a love for animals, especially dogs. Beverly raised six independent children, who will miss her laughter, loving ways, and hearing “I love you” from her. Beverly was very social and loved meeting new people.
Beverly is survived by her children, Michelle (Jeff) Star, Christine (Mark) Peters, Jackie (Jim) Dunn, Lisa (Dave) Braun, Valerie Fisher, and Jason (Nicole) Waldo; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren (and one of the way), 1 great great grandson; siblings, Doris Baker, Bess Ann Eichler, and Richard (Karen) Goodman, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Terrence Goodman, grandson, Joseph Andrade, an infant great grandson, Preston Mouser, and siblings, Alice Almendinger and Allen “Bud” Goodman.
Memorial services for Beverly will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024 at LaPointe United Methodist Church, 7285 W. Harbor Rd., Port Clinton, OH, with visitation one hour prior to the services from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Beverly may be given to LaPointe United Methodist Church or the Ottawa County Humane Society. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor is assisting the family with arrangements.
