Bettye Jeanne Vroman

Bettye Jeanne Vroman, age 90, passed away Thursday Sept. 22, 2011 at Sunset Village in Sylvania. The daughter of Robert and Rowena Lewis, she was born Aug. 6, 1921 in Bluffton, OH. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School and Bluffton College where she majored in Music and English. She taught Music and English at the high school level for several years. She married Robert Vroman in 1948 and moved to Toledo where he purchased a small ice cream company. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and the Inverness Club. Jeanne was an accomplished pianist and talented singer. She performed for both her daughters, once at Carols senior recital and with CJ at a clarinet performance at the Ohio State University. She was a true animal lover, especially cats, and a significant supporter of the Toledo Humane Society and local animal shelters. Jeanne had a real affection for the French language. The biggest joy in her life were her grandchildren, whom she requested that they call her Je Je. She will be sadly missed by her children, Cynthia CJ Vroman, Carol Cary Loos; grandchildren, Adam and Samuel Loos. She was preceded in death by her husband. There will be no visitation and services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Paws & Whiskers Cat Shelter, 32 Hillwyck Toledo, OH 43615.
