Betty L. Valasek, 91, of Martin, Ohio, died in the Genoa Care Center Thursday evening, March 13, 2008. She was born September 25, 1916, in Hroznava Lhota, Czechoslovakia, to Jan and Genevie Fojtik Gajdostik. On October 28, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Anthony Valasek, who preceded her in death September 19, 1992. Betty was a homemaker and also helped her husband with the farming and chores. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, where she belonged to the Rosary and Altar Society. She was a member of the American-Czechoslovakian Dance Club and enjoyed listening to Czech music. Betty loved to bake, especially Czech pastries, canning, gardening and planting flowers. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Betty Jane Lemke of Elmore, Tony Ann Valasek of Martin and Dolores Ed Klimkowsky of Longmont, CO; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, several brothers and sisters, and son-in-law, Galen Butch Lemke. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, and a scripture service to be read at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto Fund, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #3, Genoa. The family would like to especially thank the doctors at Elmore Medical Center, the Genoa Care Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
