Betty Jane Ulrich

April 8, 1924 — January 29, 2013

Betty Jane Ulrich, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Kingston Residence of Perrysburg after a short illness. she was born on April 8, 1924 in Lima, Ohio to William and Etta Lewis. Betty attended school in Lima and worked during WWII in Detroit and San Franciso for the war effort. Betty married Carl Eugene Gene Ulrich on November 3, 1944. All who knew them recognized that theirs was a very special romance. They began married life with a six month honeymoon in Southern California and had many adventures living in several other parts of the country before settling down to raise a family in Maumee, Ohio. A long time member of St. Timothys Lutheran Church in Maumee, Betty also enjoyed reading and listening to music. Her special joy was in spending time with and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Ulrich and her daughter, Marilyn Kay Galbreth. She is survived by her children, Michael Barbara Ulrich; Barbara Robert Cunningham; Lynne Hank Lehrer; grandchildren, Julie Matthew Levine; Jennifer Cunningham; Katie Tommy Ray; Gerald Ulrich; and Geoffrey Ulrich; great-grandchildren, Zachary; Brianna and Tommy; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Special thanks to Tim and Betty Galbreth for keeping Betty and her family in their hearts through the years and to the nurses, staff and volunteers at Kingston Residence in Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving attention. Also, thanks to Jake and all others who added so much enrichment to Bettys life, especially in her later years. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 4pm until 8pm at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10am at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Bettys memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
