Betty Ellen Tanier

Betty Ellen Tanier, age 92, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Franciscan Care Center in Sylvania. Betty was born in Henry County, OH to Floyd and Daisy Ross on October 24, 1918. A devoted, wife, mother and grandmother, Betty cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful baker and was famous for her homemade potato soup. Betty loved boating, fishing, and spending time at the family cottage in Reno Beach. She was also an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Betty is survived by her daughters, Judy Walker and Shirley Thom Pyles; grandchildren, Dawn Jeff Nicely and Nikki Brad Vernon; four great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Reighard, Marie Vinecourt, Lola Peske; brothers, Dale Maxine and Lawrence Carol Ross; sister-in-law, Marie Ross; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Tanier; parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Isabelle Harry Scheffert, and Donna Herb Masalis; brothers, Sylvester and Charles Ross; and brothers-in-law, Paul Reighard, Ralph Vinecourt, and Edward Peske. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where services will follow at 12:00pm.
