Betty Jane Simon

Betty Jane Simon, age 87, passed away Saturday Oct. 20, 2012 at Arbors at Sylvania. The daughter of John and Anna Spirko, she was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Toledo. She was a graduate of Whitney Vocational High School. She worked for the Toledo Public Schools as a secretary for over 20 years before retiring. She loved to travel especially to Las Vegas, California, Florida and Canada. Betty dearly loved her family and tirelessly cared for them. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Ann John Simon McConagha and Deborah Simon Mowery; grandchildren Jennifer Mowery, John McConagha III and Michael McConagha. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years who died in 2007, Pete Paul Simon. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 5-7 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd. Services will begin on Saturday with prayers at the funeral home at 9:45 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
