Betty B. Rumpf Schlaudecker died peacefully surrounded by family on November 7, 2017 at age 97. Born on June 12, 1920 to Carl and Mary (Rhoades) Grimm in Mendon, Ohio, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carroll and Richard Grimm, husband John J. Rumpf, son Jack Rumpf and husband George F. Schlaudecker. Known for her quiet grace, abundant kindness and loving demeanor, she impacted many in the community and will be dearly missed. An immensely talented interior designer and seamstress, Betty began her business, Betty Rumpf Interiors Inc., in 1960 in the Ottawa Hills Shopping Center, where it is still located today. She loved helping her clients, family and many friends create beautiful and welcoming homes. Having raised four sons, Betty was particularly fond of the camouflaging powers of a lovely patterned fabric. Betty’s greatest legacy is her large and loving family. She is survived by sons Jim (Sheri) Rumpf, Jeff (Terri) Rumpf, Tom (Pam) Rumpf and Sharon Rumpf; stepsons Bill (Kathy) Schlaudecker, David (Cindy) Schlaudecker; siblings Jackie Badger, Kenneth Grimm, Douglas Grimm and Mary Evelyn Paul; grandchildren Kim Conlon, James Rumpf Jr., Lisa Exline, Brent Rumpf, Jason Rumpf, Jessica Rumpf, Liz Wright, TJ Rumpf, Jeffrey Schlaudecker, Christa Cantrell, Martha Rich and 13 great-grandchildren. Family will receive guests at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. and a luncheon. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of your choice.
