Betty L Rowe

Betty L. Rowe, age 83, passed away Wednesday May 11, 2016 at her home. The daughter of Elvin and Elizabeth Iffland, she was one of 13 children born January 16, 1933 in Metamora, OH and was a 1951 graduate of Metamora High School. After graduating she moved to Toledo to live with one of her sisters and began to work downtown at Libbey-Owens-Ford where she met her future husband, Jim Rowe. They were married June 5, 1954 in Toledo at United Church of Christ and several years later were blessed with their two children. Betty became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was active with the Lutheran Womens League. After raising her children, she worked at Friendlys on Douglas and Sylvania where she enjoyed her co-workers and regular morning customers. Betty enjoyed walking , listening to Rush Limbaugh on her headphones, but most of all her family. She will be remember as wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She immensely enjoyed her children and grandchildren, spending time with them, playing with them, reading to them and being truly exceptional mom and grandma. She never missed an opportunity to be a part of their lives, at school and sporting events, and whether dishing out snow cones or watching from audience or sidelines, she was their biggest fan. Her daughters friends told her they wanted to borrow her mom because of the loving and supporting mom that she was. Friends of both Vicki and Rick remember her as an extraordinary woman with a kind and loving heart, with the sweetest disposition. she was good natured, selfless in her giving and was always ready to do whatever she could to help others. Her memory lives on in our hearts forever and ,in particular, as the daffodils and other flowers she loved bloom each Spring. She is survived by her children, Vicki (Denny) Lyle, Rick (Beth) Rowe; grandchildren, Jenelle (Steve) Hoseus, Jared Lyle, Brandon (Amber Melchert) LaCourse, Caitlin, Alexandra, and Mallory Rowe; great grandchild, Ainslee; siblings, Margaret Manzagol, Clair (Doris) Iffland, Wilma Jackson, Barbara Benner; brother-in-law, Alvin (Ginnie) Rowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; Parents; siblings, Eileen Barnaby, Lynford Iffland, Inez Cox, Erma Barnaby, Corabelle Betz, Meredith Lorenz and Norris Iffland. The family would also like to thank the wonderful women who so thoughtfully cared for our mom. Shirley, Ashley, Lisa, Alana, Kim, Jessica, Julie and Cathy, as well as several others, are true blessings in our lives and we are grateful for all they did for both our parents. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 3-7 PM at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd). Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 3934 Laskey Rd Toledo, OH 43623. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
