Betty A. Redmond, 85, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born December 13, 1924 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of Arthur and Jenny Fernbach Aring. On June 15, 1946 in Youngstown, OH, she married R. Glenn Redmond and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2004. Betty was a homemaker for many years and also worked as a secretary for the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce for 5 to 6 years, Wiseman Insurance Agency for 5 years, the Lakeside Association for 2 years and Western Union in Cleveland for 4 years. She retired in 1981. Betty was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH and a member of the Serra Circle at the church. She also was a past member of the Priscilla Circle at St. John Lutheran Church. Betty was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughters: Jeanne Larry Long of Flagler Beach, FL and Barbara Roberts of Vermilion, OH; Sons: Robert Glenn Deborah Redmond Jr. of Port Clinton, OH and John Michelle Redmond of Seattle, WA; Grandchildren: Jerry Reckart & Jennifer Reckart of Flagler Beach, FL, Sarah Jeff, Melissa & Jessica Roberts of Vermilion, OH and Adrian Redmond of Washington, DC; Great-Granddaughter: Aubrey; Brother: Edward Barbara Aring of Valley View, OH; Sister: Doris Wahl of Sagimore Hills, OH. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Ethel Aring and son-in-law: Bobby Roberts. A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-11AM, Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a Memorial service conducted by Pastor Michael Wiechers at 11:00AM. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH.
