Betty Jane Armstrong Pinkerton, 88, of Martin, Ohio, died in her home Monday morning, May 12, 2008. Betty was born July 28, 1919, in Genoa, Ohio, to Clark and Elma Mae Skilliter Armstrong. On April 6, 1939, in Angola, Indiana, she married James Clark Pinkerton, who preceded her in death December 18, 1989. She was a homemaker and loved to garden and read. Betty was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa, where she served on Consistory and as its recording financial secretary and had been a member of Allen Central Elementary School PTA. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Beth Chuck Grundmann of Colorado Springs, CO, Diana Sue Nuckols of Toledo, sons, James Clark Pinkerton of Helena, MT, John Vern Norma Pinkerton of Chesterland, OH, Joel Mark Joanne Pinkerton of Millbury and Jeffery Lee Pinkerton of Toledo; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Jim, brother, Verne, and sister, Isabel. According to Bettys wishes, there will be no visitation, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions in memory of Betty to St. Johns UCC Elderlife. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home of Genoa is assisting the family with arrangements.
