Betty Peterson

“Aunt” Betty Rose Peterson, 93, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Betty was born August 17, 1929 in Holland, Ohio to Carl and Esther Osten. Betty was a graduate of Holland High School in 1947. She started working from the age of 17 at Kennedy Shoe Store, Haughton Elevators, and Comerica Bank, retiring in 1995. Betty was a resident of the Perrysburg Louisiana House for the past 27 years.

Betty never had any children so she was known to everyone who knew and loved her as “Aunt Betty.” She became the respected elder that cared and watched over everyone in the family after the passing of all her siblings. Betty was a strong-willed woman who was stubbornly independent and believed in doing things in the proper way. She could be stern and would let you know with a look if you weren't doing what she thought you should be doing, but she also always went out of her way to remember someone's special occasions with a card in the mail.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and life-long friend Iris Molyneux. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Health Perrysburg Cancer Center, The nurses and aides at Hospice, and Ashley & Heather from Ohioans Home Healthcare.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Springfield Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Louisiana House in Perrysburg.
