Betty E. Nickelsen, 97, of Genoa, formerly of Woodville, Ohio, died Thursday evening, October 4, 2012, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born October 16, 1914, in North Manchester, Indiana, to Voyle and Ruth Grossnickle Ramsey. On May 24, 1940, in Ashland, Ohio, she married Alvin C. Nickelsen, who preceded her in death November 11, 1994. Betty taught schools at Huntington City schools, Huntington, Indiana, Harris-Elmore schools in Elmore, and retired from Genoa schools in 1973. She was a member of Woodville United Methodist Church, the Woodville Book Guild, and Elder College at Terra Community College. Betty is survived by her sons, James Linda Nickelsen of Bowling Green, Thomas Kay Nickelsen of Woodville and Gary Kris Nickelsen of Charlottesville, VA, three grandchildren, one step grandchild and one step-great grandchild. Her parents, husband and sister, Margaret Olinger preceded her in death. Visitation will be 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2012, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. Additional visitation will be 2:30-4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Woodville United Methodist Church, where the funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Jen Williamson at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials for Betty be directed to the Woodville United Methodist Church, 201 W. First St., Woodville, OH 43469; or the Woodville Public Library, 101 E. Main St., Woodville, OH 43469.
