Elizabeth Musolf, beloved and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Born October 17, 1921, to Mary and Peter Blazer in Dunbridge, Ohio, she was the fourth in a family of seven, of which now two remain. Educated mostly by the Ursuline Sisters, Betty, as she became known, was a border at and graduated from old St. Ursula Academy on Collingwood Avenue, where she formed many lasting relationships. After graduation Betty lived with the McKinney family in West Toledo and worked at the DeVilbiss Company helping the war effort. She met her husband, Robert Slater of Genoa, at Toledos poplar Trianon Ballroom, whom she married October 1942 at Rosary Cathedral. She moved to Genoa while her husband went off to serve with Pattons Third Army in Germany and gave birth to her only child, James, and continued to live there the next 70 years. She was gainfully employed as a respected and loyal employee in the China dept. of LaSalles and Kochs for many years. After the death of Robert, Betty married John Jack Musolf, also of Genoa, in 1989 and remained active in the community. Betty was active, until her death, in Genoas Coterie Club, played bridge and became renowned for her culinary techniques. Her blue-ribbon pies were a must at every function; especially the banana cream and Better-Than-Robert-Redford dessert. Kind and generous to a fault, Betty seldom went anywhere as a guest without a flower or box of Stovers Chocolates and always remembered any children. She was an artist at gift wrapping, presenting them in stunning fashion. She enjoyed travel, especially cruises, and her stand-out visits with Jack included Spain, Hungary and Israel. Jack passed away in 2002. Left to revere her memory are her beloved son, Jim Slater of Genoa, grandson, Daniel Slater Maria and great grandsons, Christian of Weston, OH, and Ryan Moll of New York, grandson, Steven Slater Monica of South Carolina, great grandson, Deric Slater of Toledo, and ex-daughter-in-law, Sharon of Walbridge. She also leaves great-great grandchildren, Joshie and Lily Moll, step son, Tim Musolf Liz and step daughter, Sheryl Allan Griff both of Genoa, step grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Musolf and Meghan Ross Brad and step-great-great granddaughter, Bella Ross. Also surviving Betty are her sisters, Ann Galloway of Toledo, Renee Jones James of Lake Suzy, FL, as well as loved nieces and nephews, Barbara Neese Dale of Racine, WI, Cassi Bertke Brent of Chicago, IL, David Galloway Karen of Ft. Myers, FL, Thomas Galloway Donna of Atlanta, GA, Susan Richardson Scott of Toledo, Nancy LaPort Chris of Bloomfield, MI, Karen Willett of Sarasota, FL, Randall Jones Noree of Sylva, NC, and Jim Hindley Nancy of Bowling Green.
