Betty J. Lockhart

Our dear mom passed away on August 12, 2015 at Orchard Villa Nursing Home, at the age of 86, surrounded by her family. Mom was born on September 28, 1928 to Orlando and Lucille Laxton in Kenvir, Kentucky. After being orphaned at an early age, she and her sister, Pam, were raised by their grandma and grandpa. On July 5, 1946 she married our Dad, Noble Lockhart and began a new journey that included raising ten kids. Mom was a strong and courageous woman who faced any struggle with dignity and honor. She had a knack for making each of her children feel that they were the special one while loving all of us equally. Although she suffered through many health issues over the last five years, she always kept her radiant smile and optimism. She will be a part of us for the rest of our lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble; daughter, Sheila; son, Mike; and sister, Pam. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Judy (Ken), Sue (Jim), Sonia (Rick), Theresa; sons, Bobby, Jim, Don (Barb), Steve (Sharon); twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121) from 2 P.M. to 9 P.M. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11 A.M. followed by her interment at Lake Township Cemetery. A celebration luncheon will follow at VFW Post #9963 Banquet Hall, 109 N. Main Street, Walbridge, sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. We wish to thank our sisters, Judy and Sue, for all they have done to make Mom’s life as easy as possible for her last years. We would also like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Great Lakes Caring and Great Lakes Hospice for all of their support and guidance. The family would like to request that any memorial donations be made to Great Lakes Hopice for indigent health care.
