Betty Jane Lieser

Betty Jane Lieser, 89, of Oak Harbor, died early Thursday morning, December 5, 2013, at the Ames Family Hospice House in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. She was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio, on December 28, 1923, to Virgil and Addie Cardosy Wolf. On January 13, 1944, in Oak Harbor she married Raymond L. Lieser and he preceded her in death January 4, 1974. Betty graduated from Salem-Oak Harbor High School and the Flower Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as the charge nurse at H.B. Magruder Hospital after working there for 30 years. Betty was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor. Her family was her main focus in life and she will be greatly missed. Betty is survived by her daughters, Linda Shipley of Springfield, PA, and Mary Ralph Gerard of Bay Village, OH; grandchildren, Matthew Shipley, Andrew Susan Shipley, Raymond Caroline Gerard and Susan Gerard; great grandson, Walter Shipley and a Gerard great grandchild on the way; as well as brothers, Bill Wolf and Robert Rod Gerry Wolf. Her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Ken Shipley, preceded her in death. Visitation for Betty will be 2-5 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2013, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend John Stirewalt at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2013, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery. The family suggests memorials for Betty to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe St. Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606.
