Betty Lynn Iffland, 72, of Clay Center, Ohio, passed away in St. Charles Mercy Hospital Friday evening, November 27, 2009. She was born March 7, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, to Oscar and Constance Jackson Scharer. On March 25, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Richard Dick G. Iffland, and he preceded her in death July 16, 2009. Lynn worked as a telephone operator in Genoa, and later became a cook for the Genoa Area School District where she worked for 30 plus years. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Elliston, Ohio. Lynn enjoyed traveling to the Amish Country, crocheting, knitting, and playing solitaire. She also worked as a poll worker for the county elections. More importantly, Lynn loved spending time with her sons and grandsons. Lynn is survived by her sons, Terry Norma Iffland of Dublin, Ohio, Bruce Iffland of Gibsonburg, Ohio; grandsons, Trent and Tyler Iffland; brother, Fred Scharer of Genoa, Ohio, and brother-in-law, Glenn Debra Iffland of Oregon, Ohio. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, and son Dennis Dewey R. Iffland. Visitation will be Monday November 30, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. and also Tuesday December 1, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday December 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston, Ohio. Burial will be in the Clay Township Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Lynn may be directed to the Genoa Area Local Schools Scholarship Foundation or Zion United Methodist Church.
